Founded in 2004 by Kirsten DeHaan, SLR is centered on crafting truly independent music alongside today's leading technological partners within the industry. Preparing for her third studio release, DeHaans' music is solely based on two facets: delivering 'goosebumps' while questioning the status quo.
DeHaan, is a nineties-style punk-pop dynamo. Her new 3-song EP is drawing comparisons to Belly and U2, which is fair enough, but her live set is rawer and more punked out. This dualism may simply be in the nature of the pretty, driven, biker-haired Indianan-turned-New Yorker, or it may be smartly planned - or both. In any case, it makes her recorded music potentially radio-friendly in more than one circuit - grown up Gen-Xers, college rock, maybe even the Avril LaTween set. 'Kirsten DeHaan has built quite a reputation in NYC with her solid folk-rock tunes and passionate delivery. Her music has been featured several times on MTV shows and was nominated #16 Best Female Vocals in Pop/Rock, all-time, by Garageband.com. The new single from her new EP "Under the Richter Scale" showcases her uncommon talent for rock melodies - that in this circumstance somehow remind us of the Simple Minds' "Once Upon a Time" and U2 "The Joshua Tree" era. - The Deli Magazine
